Final exhibition at Academy of Precious Metal Arts 2004
Designmuseum Denmark, Copenhagen 2004
For the exhibition and his final exam at Academy of Precious Metal Arts in 2004, Hanan Emquies chose to investigate the common notion of the ring, asking himself questions about the way we traditionally perceive the ring today.
The ring is per se defined as a circular shape with a hole to be placed and kept at the finger. As a jewellery designer one should, however, ask oneself, if it is possible to create a design challenging and widening our notion of the classic ring. Is there a limit to man’s perception of a ring? Is there a wrong and right in terms of shape, size and material of the ring? Is it possible to break the boundaries while challenging and refining the shape and function of the ring?
Hanan Emquies answered the questions by designing three rubber rings with each their unique way of carrying the ring.
