Sustainability and recycling are dogmatic to modern man. This also applies to the goldsmith to whom all waste is precious – and can be of use. With the “Trash” collection Hanan Emquies gives the notion of “recycling” a luxurious twist. Thus his inspiration for Trash derives from the waste bin of the goldsmith table, in which he accidentally caught a glance of the structure and aesthetics of the cut off metal. The blend of the metal in odd sizes is almost like a living organism and the optical effect is simply stunning. The Trash collection holds rings, earrings and necklaces in silver and gold, and each piece of jewellery reflects the truth in the old saying “One Man’s Trash, Another Man’s Treasure”.
